Welcome to The Jolly German

Wolfgang Kelke is a name synonymous with European baking in South-East Queensland and beyond. Also known as the ‘King of Cakes’ for the past 32 years, he has hung up his chef hat and is embarking on an exciting new adventure, a road trip that will take him around Australia. His mission is simple, to introduce Australia to all of his favorite Bavarian places and share his adventures.

Day 1  - Sunday 6th July & 14th September

  • Arrival- pick up from airport with a welcome drink, day is to relax and discover the area – need pick up transport -  Haus im Tal – Platzl Hotel – Hotel Torbraeu – Hotel Cortina

Monday 7th July & 15th September

  • Breakfast at Hotel

  • Watch the Glockenspiel at 11.00 am

  • Go to Rathaus Tower for the view and taking pictures

  • Visit at the Frauen Kirche – find out the history

  • Lunch at the Augustiner Klosterwirt

  • Walk through the Viktualien Market and enjoy a glass of Champagen at the Nyphenburg Stand

  • Dinner at the Hofbrauhaus

Day 3 – Tuesday 8th July & 16th September

Day 4 - Wednesday 9th July & 17th Septmeber

  • Breakfast at your Hotel – departure for Freising at 8.15am

  • 10.00 am Weihenstephan Brewery tour in Freising  - https://www.weihenstephaner.de/en/our-brewery/brewery-tour

  • Lunch at Blumenhof Beergarden in Erding

  • Walk through Old Town Erding

  • Wine Tasting with food platters at Weins

  • Driving back to Munich Hotel Torbraeu

  • DRIVER CHAFFAUER

Day 5 – Thursday 10th July & 18th September

  • Breakfast at Hotel

  • Whole day for your personal enjoyment - shopping

  • Austrian Cooking Class at the Genusswerkstatt – pick up at 17.00 with start of class at 18.00  - https://genusswerkstatt-muenchen.de/

Day 6 – Friday 11th July & 19th September

  • Breakfast at Hotel

  • Walk to Feldherren Halle and Theatiner Kirche

  • Residence & Treassure

  • Lunch at Pfister Muehle

  • Walk back to Viktualien Market and have a beer at the Hofreiter Beergarden

  • Dinner at the Hax’n Grill

Day 7 – Saturday 12th July & 20th September

Day 8 – Sunday 13th July & 21st September

  • Breakfast at Hotel – leaving at 9.00am

  • E-biking through Munich – pick up bike at Radius HBH Gleis 32 by 11.00am

  • From Hauptbahnhof through tunnel into Paul Hyse Strasse, straight on to Heinrichs Strasse via Kaiser Ludwig Platz into Kapuziener Strasse over the Wittelsbacher Bruecke along the River Isar

  • Exite via Luitpold Bruecke  - to the right theFriedens Engel – turn left cross the bridge along the Prinzregenten Strasse to the Eisbach Wave, watching the Surfers.

  • Along the bikeway in the Englisch Garten. Stop at the Monoptorus for Pictures, continue to the  Chinesischen Turm for Lunch

  • Stop at the Kleinhesseloer See for another Beer and Photos

  • Exit at Leopold Strasse stop at the Siegestor and then continue to Hofgarten, along Brienner Strasse past Carolinen Platz continue to Koenigsplatz – Photo opportunity -

  • Last Stop at the Augustiner Beergarden

Day 9 – Monday 14th July & 22nd September

Day 10 – Tuesday 15th July & 23rd September

Day 11 – Wednesday 16th July & 24th September

  • Travel to Innsbruck Canapés & Wine tasting at Harry’s Vinoteke

  • Tour through Innsbruck – Goldene Dacher’l – Hofburg

  • light snack at Piano’s Kartoffel Puffer

  • Drive on to Seefeld – get to Gschwand Kopf Alm, stay overnight

Day 12 – Thursday 17th July & 25th September

Day 13 – Friday 18th July & 26th September

  • Flossfahrt on the River Isar in July Tour

  • Oktoberfest in September Tour

Day 14th  – Saturday  19th July & 27th September

  • Prepare for Departure
